Become a Cadet

Are you ready to take hold of all the opportunities that the Royal Air Force Air Cadets can offer you?

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) offers a wide range of activities including Adventure Training, flying and gliding, shooting, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and so much more. Whatever your interests, we will have an activity to suit you! Being a member of the RAFAC is a reward in itself – you’ll constantly see the benefits of your own efforts and training. With qualifications such as BTECs and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award up for grabs too, you’ll have a CV that stands out from the crowd.

It’s important to remember that we’re not a recruiting organisation for the Armed Forces, but by being a cadet you’ll gain a variety of fantastic skills that will make your application unique if you do decide to sign up.

Worried about fitting in? Fear not, for equality and diversity are key components in the ethics of the RAFAC. The cadet experience is open to everyone, so whatever your nationality, background or ability, whether you’re male or female, you are more than welcome to join us. Our only pre-requisites for joining is that you must be 12 years of age and in Year 8 at school. The maximum age for entry is 17, so if you’re closer to the upper end of the age scale then make sure to contact us to see how we can accommodate you.
